A case study was completed on Fairfield, Iowa as a part of The Small Towns, Big Ideas project. The UNC School of Government partnered with the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center to identify and document fifty small towns that were implementing successful or innovative approaches to community economic development.

In 2008, the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored a meeting to review Fairfield’s downtown business strategy. Some topics discussed were business clustering, how we stack up compared to our peer counties and much more.

Each year the City of Fairfield is audited by the Auditor of State. The audit is conducted for the purpose of forming opinions on the financial statements that collectively comprise the City of Fairfield’s basic financial statements.

This report gives an in-depth review of the financial health of the City of Fairfield. The results of the independent audit is made publicly available June 30 annually.
