Agri-Industrial Plastics Company receives state expansion incentives

Posted by Sam Busch

Portions excerpted from an article appearing in the Fairfield Ledger.

Agri-Industrial Plastics Company has been awarded $36,000 and tax benefits to help expand, create and retain jobs. The award was approved by the Iowa Department of Economic Development Board and will create in Fairfield, five new jobs and retain seven jobs. The tax benefits were made from the Enterprise Zone program. A resolution supporting Agri-Industrial Plastics’ Enterprise Zone Application was approved in February, by the Jefferson County Enterprise Zone Commission.

Agri-Industrial Plastics’ request was for funding a machinery and equipment project. The project will add two machines totaling $8 million and create 16 new jobs. State Rep. Curt Hanson of Fairfield said, “I’m pleased the state is participating with us to create good-paying jobs in our community”. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and it’s essential that we provide support and assistance to help small businesses across Iowa grow.”

2010 Fairfield Existing Business Initiative underway

Posted by Sam Busch

Portions excerpted from March 17, 2010 FEDA media release. To read the full release, click here.

The Fairfield Economic Development Association announced the launch Thursday of the 2010 Fairfield Existing Business Initiative [FEBI]. The Initiative, a business outreach survey and interview program first implemented in 2008 (click here for report), seeks to gather extensive intelligence on the condition of the local economy.

During the FEBI campaign, members from a six-member FEDA Board subcommittee will visit leaders at 36 of Fairfield’s largest employers in an effort to identify growth opportunities; retraction threats and gather marketplace, community and utility services satisfaction data.

The program takes a three-part approach to information gathering. The first component, a company background information survey, has already been distributed to each of the participating companies and is expected to be returned by mid-April. A live appointment follows. Following receipt of the background forms, we will be contacting company officials to set up meetings during which two members of the FEBI subcommittee will visit the company site and conduct a comprehensive interview with question topics ranging in scope from international market share to local Internet service satisfaction.

The final component is a post-visit follow-up report submitted by FEBI committee members following the meeting to FEDA for analysis. A final aggregate report will be released to the community at the FEDA annual meeting in September.

Agri-Industrial Plastics Company Expands Production Capacity

Posted by Sam Busch

Agri-Industrial Plastics Company (AIP) will be accepting another 6-layer fuel tank machine in early August to compliment their current machine, doubling the production capacity of fuel tanks for ATV, snowmobile, watercraft, golf cart, lawn & garden and the small to medium sized engine market.

AIP began manufacturing non automotive multilayer fuel tanks in 2005 to meet the more stringent permeation requirements enforced by the EPA in the United States. Since going down this path, their business has now required additional equipment to meet greater demand.
